Alpha 311 has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Aerem Group Limited to explore the manufacture, distribution and installation of its wind turbines in the United States.

The MOU out a framework for the two companies to explore how Alpha 311’s technology could be manufactured and deployed in the US.

Under the agreement, the businesses will work together to:

  • Identify potential installation opportunities at commercial and industrial sites
  • Find suitable US-based manufacturing and assembly partners
  • Explore further opportunities through Aerem Group’s international partner network

Alpha 311 holds the patents for two vertical-axis wind turbine designs for local, on-site energy generation.

Smaller and lighter than conventional wind turbines, they are designed for straightforward installation at manufacturing facilities, warehousing and distribution centres, telecoms towers, and solar farms — locations where local generation can offset grid dependence and reduce exposure to rising or unreliable grid-supplied power.

Generating energy where it is needed can help organisations reduce their dependence on the grid and their exposure to rising or unreliable grid-supplied power.

Aerem Group works with environmental technologies that already have an international track record. Technologies in its portfolio have been deployed by Sodexo and used by customers including Amazon, Apple, the UK Ministry of Defence and naval forces in the US, Canada, Italy, France, Germany, the UK and Australia. Its water portfolio also includes a technology with more than 200 successful installations.

Barry Thompson, co-founder of Alpha 311, said:

“This MOU is an important first step in exploring how our turbines could be manufactured and deployed at scale in the US. Aerem Group’s reach and experience make them a logical partner as we look at what a US manufacturing and distribution model could look like.”

John Gotley, director of Aerem Group, said:

“Alpha 311’s technology fits well with the kind of practical, disruptive solutions we look to support. We’re looking forward to working with the team to identify the right sites and manufacturing partners in the US.”
