What makes us different?

Small wind doesn’t work, does it?

Small wind has failed historically.

Turbines were optimised for storms or high-winds, not the 5–9 m/s winds that actually dominate the UK & EU.

Some VAWTs on the market claim power based on power coefficient (Cp) values that violate physics and therefore can't deliver.

Installations required new towers, foundations and high civil CAPEX and were not deployable in cities and areas of high energy usage

Alpha 311 has changed that.

What did we do differently?

We've made small wind viable.

We engineered a vertical-axis wind turbine for real wind conditions not brochure wind and utilised technologies routinely applied in aeronautics and Formula 1.

Through applied aerodynamics we have created a turbine that is optimised to UK/EU usable wind energy 

And we designed it to utilise existing infrastructure.

Smaller than traditional turbines

Designed to work in urban spaces as well as rural.

360° blades harvest air from all angles

The turbine doesn't need to turn into wind.

Cheaper to build and install

It needs less space and less materials

Smart sensors gather granular localised data

Better for maintenance and for customers.

Local communities receive power

Being small means energy can be generated where it is needed.

Turbines fit onto existing infrastructure

The design allows for installation on existing infrastructure, working alongside services.

November 2024

We have quietly hit a few milestones this year and we are long overdue on sharing this news. Following extensive CFD modelling and thorough testing in the wind tunnel at the University of Southampton, we have been proud to disclose our significantly upgraded turbine design with our existing shareholders and prospective investors.

Mark 10 turbine

December 2020

We would like to introduce you to Tom, the Alpha 311 Mk.X prototype. Easier to retrofit onto any lighting column or pole. As soon as we got it installed it started to generate energy! We will learn so much from this prototype – what a difference the carbon fibre skin, the recycled P.E.T core and the new blades will make.

3 years of hard work has gone into developing it and shows what teamwork can achieve.

September 2020

A year since the Mk. I and progress to the Mk. IX shows the progress from the first investigation to see if our idea for a wind turbine with no central shaft, that rotated around a static pole (or in this case a piece of plastic pipe) was even feasible.

A year later and we have built a further eight versions of the blade assembly and have shown that we can produce energy in natural airflow.
